Philosophy and Finances

Our philosophy for the work we undertake at New Wine International:

  • Under the Lord's guidance to freely give away what he has freely given to us.

  • We only work in other countries when invited to do so by leaders in that country.

  • Our first focus is to serve, train and encourage church leaders.

Financial Support of New Wine International:

One of New Wine International's philosophies has always been, under the Lord's guidance, to freely give away to other countries what has been given to us.

Therefore, when church leaders travel overseas, we never expect any payment for their time or ask for any honorarium or ministry gift.  Whenever possible, we do ask that countries requesting teams pay for travel costs.

The investment by New Wine to make this possible is around £48,000 a year; comprising salaries as well as leadership and development work.

In 2010 we plan to use our development monies in the following ways:

  • Hold a New Wine Forum for our International Country Leaders.  The aim is to learn lessons from what is happening around the world, looking at how we can progress in a strategic way and sharing the 'lessons learnt'.

  • Continuing to develop the church leaders who travel with us.  We have started this process with our 'Kingdom Intensive' workshops, but would like to increase the number of these and take key leaders out with us (thus blessing them, the country and further developing the work by growing a pool of leaders who can get involved).

  • Visiting 'developing countries'.  We receive many requests from 'developing countries' who can not afford to contribute towards airfares.  As part of our longer term strategy we would like to be able to organise one such visit per year.  When we have done this in the past, team members have been amazed at what the Lord has done, so they could serve as wonderful training opportunities if undertaken wisely.

Very kindly, a small number of churches in England make annual donations (approx £4,650 in 2009) towards this work.  Some countries also make an extra donation when a trip is undertaken, and whilst this isn't expected, it is gratefully received and is always put back into the work (approx £2,000 in 2009).

As one church leader recently said, 'The church I lead was already making a financial gift to the work of New Wine Networks in England as part of our tithe to mission in other places beyond the parish.  As I was able to share more of what I saw and the opportunities opening up in mnay other countries, the PCC was enthusiastic to include New Wine International as a seperate budget item.  As one member of our church said, "After all, we are a New Wine church!"'.

Partnership through your financial support would make a significant difference as we seek to fulfil the mandate that the Lord has given us.  If you would like further information about this, please contact Tim Starling at tim.starling@new-wine.org or telephone 02087994480.
