The Role

We are seeking a Senior Sales and Events Manager to join our unique team, known for its friendly and supportive culture. You will be working under our Director of Operations and managing a team of two staff members, as well as overseeing a large self-employed events team.

As the Senior Sales and Events Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the events department, from strategic planning to marketing initiatives, ensuring a smooth process from the initial stages through to post-event follow-up. As a department, we are dedicated to fulfilling our fundraising mission to support the church and its work in the local community. We value excellence, growth and affability. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in leading our venue hire department, ensuring seamless operations, continuous growth and facilitating the successful execution of a diverse range of events.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders and clients, fostering positive relationships.
  • Exceptional organisational, problem solving and strategic abilities; capable of negotiating and leading in a fast-paced setting.
  • Keen attention to detail, evident in all aspects of work, including contracting and maintaining venue standards.
  • Proven experience in venue management or a similar role, with a track record of driving income growth and operational excellence.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate, develop and inspire teams.
  • Sound financial acumen and budget management skills.
  • Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and public holidays as needed.
  • A strong understanding of the work of churches and the impact of their work in the community.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a comparable role with a proven track record of successful venue hire management and team leadership

Desired Qualifications/Skills:

  • Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for event management and analysis.
  • Demonstrated understanding of health and safety regulations and good practice in the events 
  • industry.
  • Technical ability to understand sound, visual and lighting requirements for events and create detailed briefings
  • Managing websites / WordPress.

Occupational Requirement

This role has an Occupational Requirement to be a Christian, as permitted under Schedule 9, Part 1, of the Equality Act 2010. You will be expected to lead with Christian values and will be joining the staff of an active charismatic church in central London, where you will attend weekly staff meetings which include prayer and Bible study.
