Description of Job

Part-time / Fixed Term contract: 14 hours/ week for 2 years (with scope for extension)

Salary: £11.50/ hour (£138/week) plus 5% pension contribution

Annual Leave: 25 days plus 8 statutory days (WTE)

Expenses incurred in pursuit of duties will be paid in accordance with HMRC guidelines.

Base: CVCC, Maranatha Centre, Glencairn Street, Motherwell

Do you know and love Jesus and have a vision for the next generation to know and love him too? Clyde Valley Community Church (CVCC) is looking for someone passionate about the next generation in our church and community, who can help them discover Jesus and grow in their faith.

Aims and Objectives

·       We are looking for someone to lead and develop our Next Gen ministries

·       Spend quality time with our children and youth, building relationships and trust

·       Co-ordinate activities

·       Support the Church Pastor with any pastoral issues involving the children, youth, and their families

·       Represent the next generation within the wider church, including advocating for them in decision-making situations

Duties and Responsibilities

·       Be responsible for safeguarding the children and youth in your care

·       Organise and lead a Youth Club for young people P7 – S3, building a team of volunteers to assist and create a safe space for them to invite their friends

·       Develop and lead/coordinate small groups for our youth (S1 -S6) and to come together and discuss issues and challenges they face, enabling them to look to the bible for God’s guidance

·       Facilitate evangelistic opportunities for the next generation (Youth Alpha, light party, etc)

·       Attend relevant events with the children and/or young people when possible

Accountability

This role will be overseen by the Church Pastor who will be your Line Manager, but ultimately you will be answerable to the Leadership Team (Directors of Clyde Valley Community Church).

Personal Attributes

Essential

·       Has a strong evangelical Christian faith that is lived out

·       Experience of working with children and/or young people

·       Communicates well with the next generation

·       Approachable and friendly

·       Works well within a team

·       Confident and self-motivated

·       IT skills, including social media

Desirable

·       Experience of working/ serving in local church context

·       Children or Youth Worker qualification (desirable but not essential)

·       Safeguarding Training

·       Has own means of transport
