Description of Job

Are you passionate about children’s ministry and eager to make a lasting impact in the heart of Bristol? Central Church, a vibrant and growing church in the city centre, is seeking a Kids and Families Pastor to help us build on our strong foundation and see God’s kingdom grow through our children and families.

About Us

Central Church is a diverse community of 85 adults and 30 children, committed to being Jesus-centred, Bible-based, and Spirit-led. Under the leadership of our new vicar, Tim (appointed in late 2023), we’re entering an exciting season of growth and mission. Our 10.30am Sunday service attracts families, with an average of 70 adults and 20 children, and our midweek toddler group connects with over 50 families weekly.

The Role

As Kids and Families Pastor, you will:

  • Lead and grow our ministry to children (ages 0-11), both on Sundays and midweek.
  • Oversee and develop our Sunday Club and Tower Tots toddler group, working alongside volunteers.
  • Equip parents and carers to disciple their children at home.
  • Identify new mission opportunities, building relationships with schools and the local community.
  • Lead volunteers and interns, ensuring they are recruited safely and well-supported.

We believe children are an integral part of the church today, not just the future, and we are seeking someone who shares this vision. You’ll need to be a self-starter with a heart for children’s ministry and a passion for seeing families grow in faith.

What We’re Looking For

  • A mature Christian faith and commitment to the vision of Central Church.
  • Experience in leading children’s ministry and working with families.
  • A strong team player with leadership skills, able to inspire and equip volunteers.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with a heart for outreach.
  • Ability to create dynamic, engaging environments for children’s spiritual and emotional growth.

Special Conditions:

There is a genuine occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a Christian. You’ll need to either be a member of Central Church or willing to join us, actively participating in our community life.

Benefits:

  • 25 days of annual leave (including 6 Sundays) plus bank holidays.
  • Automatic enrolment in the NEST pension scheme (4% contributions).
  • Opportunities for training and development within a supportive team.
