Youth Worker

Highfield Church Southampton, England, United Kingdom
Description of Job

·       Are you passionate about following Jesus and reaching young people

·       Do you love inspiring and equipping young people to follow Jesus and be confident in reaching their friends?

·       Would you like an opportunity to serve in practical ways and develop your gifts while exploring your calling in working with young people?

Maybe you’ve just finished an internship and are looking for the next step? Or maybe you are leading mission in another context and want to use your gifts and skills working with our young people? Or maybe you have just finished your training or education and looking for where God wants you?

We are a thriving evangelical and charismatic Anglican Church. We’re passionate about encountering God, growing together and seeking the kingdom. In terms of Highfield YTH, our overall vision is expressed as reaching young people across Southampton, raising them up as followers of Jesus and releasing them as influencers of culture. Following our growth and innovation over recent years in YTH CHRCH and Youth Fest, we have been invited to be a New Wine’s Youth Minster.

As the Youth Worker, you will have an essential role in supporting the Head of YTH and Southampton’s Youth Minster in this vision by playing a significant part in our Friday YTH nights, Sunday YTH CHRCH and midweek school’s work.

For you to be right for the role we have, we need you to:

·       Have experience of Christian youth work

·       Demonstrate your passion in engaging and discipling young people

·       Be willing to engage personally in our church discipleship process of encountering God, growing together and seeking the kingdom, in turn modelling it to others

·       Be warm and approachable

·       Be self-motivated and organised

·       Be able to work well in a team and take direction and feedback when necessary

·       Have a willingness to step outside of your comfort zone

We’re offering a salary of £12.00 per hour as well as a 9% contributory pension scheme, great holiday allowance and relevant training and development opportunities. This role is offered on a 12 month fixed term contract, with a view to extend to 2 years, working 20 hours per week - it will include varied daytime, evening and Sunday hours, with two clear days off every week. We are open to supporting flexible working and different work patterns.  Please indicate your availability within the personal statement section of the application form.

For us to be right for you, your Christian faith and personal values must be consistent with those of Highfield Church - we want you to be happy and settled within our large, friendly staff team.
