Student Pastor

Highfield Church Southampton, England, United Kingdom
Salary
26,208
Description of Job
  • Are you passionate about encountering Jesus in worship and inspiring students and young adults to do the same?
  • Do you love equipping and leading students to grow as followers of Jesus?
  • Are you passionate about seeking the Kingdom through sharing your faith and encouraging students to share their faith with friends?

We are a thriving evangelical and charismatic Anglican Church with two of Southampton University’s campuses in our parish. As only 1% of students are in church nationally, we’re aiming to invest significantly in work among students as we think it’s a burning priority. Our plan is to be both missional and attractional: missional through our Campus Pastor, releasing him for creative and risk-taking mission on Campus, while also seeking someone to lead our attractional church-based student work in compelling and engaging ways.

As the Student Pastor, you will set the vision for our church-based work among students, inspiring them to encounter God, grow together and seek the Kingdom. You will also work with the Campus Pastor where appropriate in outreach on Campus.

For you to be right for the role we have, we need you to:

  • Have experience of helping to lead work among students
  • Have a passion for seeing students (and young adults of student age) grow in their discipleship, particularly through small groups
  • Love seeing students and young adults grow as servants and leaders, using their spiritual gifts
  • Have experience of sharing your faith with students
  • Be someone who loves team-working and has led within teams
  • Be self-motivated and organised
  • Have a pastoral heart for the well-being of students (and young adults of student age)
  • Be willing to engage personally in our church discipleship process of encountering God, growing together and seeking the kingdom, in turn commending and modelling it to others

We’re offering a salary of £26,208 per annum (£12.60 per hour) as well as a 9% contributory pension scheme, great holiday allowance and relevant training and development opportunities. This role is offered on a permanent contract, with a 40 hour working week - it will include varied daytime, evening and Sunday hours, but with two clear days off each week. We are open to supporting flexible working and different work patterns.  Please indicate your availability within the personal statement section of the application form.

For us to be right for you, your Christian faith and personal values must be consistent with those of Highfield Church - we want you to be happy and settled within our large, friendly staff team.
