We’re looking for an experienced, financially astute individual who can support our ministries and PCC with excellent financial management and reporting. We have exciting plans for 2025 and beyond and need support with generous giving and income generation to enable our vision to see Faith Rise, the Church Rise, and the City Rise to flourish.
Key responsibilities
Finance Activities
- Manage the budgeting process with Ministry Leads, the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and the PCC Standing Committee.
- Forecast and monitor cash flow, identifying risks to reserves.
- Processing accruals and pre-payments, balance sheet reconciliation, and variance analysis play active roles in assisting ministries in working within their budgets.
- Managed payroll preparation and pensions, including updating and implementing staff policies.
- Complete all periodic financial and legal returns to the Diocese, Charities Commission and HMRC.
Reporting
- Preparation of management and statutory accounts and management of year-end audits/independent examinations for both entities.
- Provide timely management accounts and information for the SLT, PCC and Treasurer.
Income and Donor Management & Fundraising
- Direct the church's purchasing policy and process, account receivables, regular and one-off giving (multiple platforms) and Gift Aid.
- Oversee donor management, including Gift Aid submissions to HMRC, communications and encouraging stewardship and a culture of generosity in the church.
- Create applications for funding through different means on behalf of the PCC and find new opportunities for income generation.
- Attending and advising on Giving Days and other church events as appropriate.
