Watoto Childcare Ministries is a ministry of Watoto Church in Kampala, Uganda. Watoto cares for some of the most vulnerable babies, children and women in Uganda and South Sudan. We rescue and raise children in a loving family and empower vulnerable women so that together, they can become leaders who impact their communities and rebuild their nation. Our prayer is that we give each woman and child a chance at a better future — a future full of promise. 

Watoto is a family made up of people from all over the world working together to ensure that the forgotten have a place to belong. As our team continues to grow, we are hiring a key senior role to represent the organisation across the UK at churches, events and in key partnership opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Build Relationships: Cultivate existing connections with church leaders and key partners across the UK, representing Watoto in meetings, speaking engagements, exhibitions, events and promoting Visit Watoto opportunities.
  • Strategic Growth: Conduct regular communications with potential future partner churches, organisations and individuals to grow their engagement with Watoto and see them become key supporters ahead.
  • Reporting and Planning: Provide updates and reports to the UK Executive Director on partnership progress and contribute to strategic planning, while ensuring accurate records are maintained at all times.
  • Mission Alignment: Ensure all activities align with Watoto’s mission and values, promoting its ethos and objectives in collaboration with partnership development teams across Watoto globally.
  • Professional Development: Stay informed about trends in church engagement and partnership development opportunities to plan innovatively for the role ahead.
  • Travel: Travel across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to meet with partners and attend events as needed. Occasionally visit Uganda where development opportunities arise.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A genuine occupational requirement for the role-holder is to be a practicing Christian.
  • Leading a life consistent with the teaching of Christ in all matters of faith and conduct and can commit to the values and statement of faith of Watoto Church.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively when speaking publicly and with church leaders, partners and staff team.
  • Ability to think analytically and strategically and work effectively and accurately individually and as part of a team.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly.
