The Role – whilst we would aim for the exact job description to be shaped around the specific gifts & passions of the Associate Vicar, there will be several core aspects to the job role:
• Joining the Senior Leadership Team – the Associate Vicar will be a key part of the senior church leadership team, playing a key role in shaping and nurturing all areas of church vision and life, under the overall leadership of the vicar, including deputising for the vicar when he is away.
• Pastor to 6.30pm Congregation – oversee this congregation, which aims to reach out to young adults and 20s and 30s, raising up and mentoring young adult leaders, and oversee wider ministry to young adults.
• Leadership in Sunday Services – alongside the vicar take a leading role in the other Sunday services, as part of their leading and preaching teams.
• Discipleship - to oversee either Men’s or Women’s Ministry teams as appropriate; support the ongoing ministry of the church midweek Life Groups (launched Sept 2022) with small group materials and resources.
• Pastoral Care – to play a key role in the ongoing pastoral care of the church congregation, including sharing in the ministry of baptisms, weddings and funerals with the vicar, pastoral visiting and support, and being involved in prayer ministry when requested.

The role is funded by Christ Church Woking and paid by the Church Commissioners according to the usual terms and conditions of full-time stipendiary clergy in the Diocese of Guildford.
