 Younger Generations Lead

Full Time: 37-40 hours per week, negotiable

£31-40,000 FTE, dependent on experience

Hope Church Hounslow is seeking a Younger Generations Lead to join our worshipping community. The post holder will lead lead the Children & Youth work at Hope Church Hounslow and within the Bishop’s Mission Order (BMO) and will serve as a key member of the leadership team. Responsibilities include leading the Young Generations Team, Schools & Outreach work, the oversight of regular Children, Families & Youth groups, along with socials, outings, inter-church youth events and oversight of our Kick Academy (Community Youth Football Initiative) and Bridge The Gap Football sessions. 

Hope Church Hounslow is seeking a Younger Generations Lead to join our worshipping community, as a member of the church and a key member of the leadership team. The post holder will lead the Children & Youth work at Hope Church Hounslow and within the Bishop’s Mission Order (BMO); Leading the Young Generations Team; Schools & Outreach work within identified primary and secondary schools in the BMO, including sports ministry, chaplaincy, mentoring, RSE & Transition workshops and other events; resourcing churches and youth leaders within the BMO for schools ministry; the oversight of regular Children, Families & Youth groups; plus socials, outings, inter-church youth events and Kick – our community Football Academy; to share responsibility for developing young people’s discipleship and pastoral care, meeting their spiritual and social needs, and integrating young people in our church community.

Role Title: Younger Generations Lead

Hours: The post is offered on a full time basis working 37-40 hours per week.

Salary: £31-40,000 per annum (pro rata for part time)

Reporting to: Revd Claire Clarke (Vicar)

Line manages: The Younger generations Team

Annual Leave: Full time staff receive 25 days per year, excluding public holidays.

Role Overview

Hope Church Hounslow is seeking an Younger Generations Lead to join our worshipping community, as a member of the church and a key member of the leadership team.

Responsibilities include:

To work with young people to develop their understanding and experience of Jesus

To lead in the delivery of weekly activities and youth groups, the development of resources and planning of sessions.

To oversee our school’s work, building relationships with local schools, providing support to the children who will be transitioning from primary to secondary school throughout and going in to schools to take RE lessons, lunchtime and after school clubs.

Kick Academy leadership.

Estate Youth Work.

To lead and line-manage the Young Generations Team.

To liaise with and form positive relationships with and provide support to the families and carers of young people who are part of our youth mission and ministry.

Under 18’s safeguarding lead.

To attend and input in team meetings as required.

To assist with the development of our weekly activities, (Kick Academy, Kids & Youth Church, Play Café, Schools and Transition Work, Youth Discipleship Programme, Youth Outreach Nights and other Youth Events which includes socials, weekends away and summer festivals).

There will be wider opportunities to be involved in events such as holiday club, mission events, church weekend etc.

Conduct other reasonable duties as required on an ad hoc basis.

An Occupational Requirement exists for this post-holder to be a practising Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010. The post holder will have the opportunity to shape the role to maximise effectiveness with the senior team.

Approachable to all ages, acting as a role model carrying authority and respect.

Sensitive listener with experience of dealing with matters of confidentiality.

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications:

GCSE, or equivalent, passes in English and Maths (because there will be both writing and accounting elements to the role). Relevant qualifications in youth and children’s work desirable, but not essential.

Experience:

Experience of working with young people and volunteer teams.

Experience of working well within a team.

Experience of working in a similar role.

Able to drive/have use of a car is desirable, as this role will be working across two locations.
