‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.’ (Deuteronomy 6:5-7, NIV)
Recently, a friend gave birth to a beautiful, much loved tiny girl. The first week of her life was spent in hospital, as at first she struggled to breathe and then she had to learn to feed. And then, when she came home, her big sister came down with a nasty bug, so her parents were juggling one sick kid, one tiny fragile baby and a boisterous big brother in between.
Parenting is never simple, and children magically absorb both time and attention. And Christian parents and carers can feel the pressure. How can I disciple my child? When is there time? And how can I do it in the middle of all the chaos of everyday family craziness?
Please join us as we pray for the families in our churches and communities:
Pray that parents and carers understand that they are perfectly positioned to disciple their children in the ordinary everyday of family life, drawing on Deuteronomy 6:4-9 for inspiration and confidence.
Pray that parents and carers discover ways to connect their kids and themselves to God.
Pray that as churches re-open, families are able to settle back into and find joy in the restoration of face-to-face relationships.
Pray that families are surrounded by church communities to support and love them, and to equip and inspire them as they parent their children for faith.
Pray for grandparents, godparents, extended family members and friends as they support the families God has given them to love.
Pray for the team at Parenting for Faith, that God keeps our vision sharp and grants us wisdom and creativity as we shape our ministry now and in the future.
