New Wine is committed to Safeguarding as an integral part of its ministry and mission, promoting a culture in which every child, young person and adult is valued and protected. As such, New Wine follows robust policies procedures to ensure that good practice is followed throughout all its activities.

These policies and procedures reflect our ongoing desire to:

  • Value, listen to and respect children, young people and adults as well as promoting their welfare and protection.
  • Ensure that all those who come into contact with children, young people and vulnerable adults through our activities are recruited safely and appropriately supervised and training.
  • Adopt a procedure for dealing with concerns about possible abuse.
  • Encourage, support, and empower individuals, parents, and carers.
  • Support all those affected either directly or indirectly by abuse.
  • Maintain good links and share relevant information with relevant statutory agencies and other organisations.

Finally, Safe Spaces is a free and independent support service for anyone who has experienced abuse in relation to the Church of England, the Church in Wales, or the Catholic Church of England and Wales. You can contact the Safe Spaces team through their helpline (0300 303 1056), their live chat facility or by emailing safespaces@firstlight.org.uk. If you have been affected, however long ago, Safe Spaces can provide you with support. You do not have to have told the police or the church authorities, and you do not have to still be involved with the church. Your information will not be shared without your consent unless you or someone else is in immediate danger.
