Background
Leatherhead Parish Church (LPC) is an evangelical, charismatic Anglican church in Surrey with a vision to love God, love people, and make disciples of Jesus.
Since the revitalisation of LPC in 2022 in partnership with HTB, we have seen exciting growth. We now run three Sunday morning services with over 360 attending weekly and more than 170 people in groups. Our Kids ministry is thriving, with around 110 registered children and around 60 attending each Sunday, and we currently have a younger youth group at the 11:30 service alongside a growing younger youth group and older youth groups meeting midweek.
We are passionate about raising a generation of young people who love Jesus with passion, and love people on purpose. We believe this is a critical moment to invest deeply in young people.
Job Purpose
The Youth Pastor will lead and develop LPC’s ministry among young people aged 11–18, helping them encounter Jesus, grow as disciples, and play a full part in the life of the church.
This is an exciting opportunity to build a thriving youth community by reaching young people in the local area with the gospel, and raising young leaders who will shape the future of the church. The Youth Pastor will lead youth ministry with creativity, energy, and pastoral care, while recruiting and developing a team of volunteers who share a passion for discipling the next generation.
Key Responsibilities
Leading Youth Ministry
· Provide vision, leadership, and oversight for LPC’s youth ministry (ages 11–18).
· Lead and grow youth gatherings on Sunday and midweek groups.
· Build a welcoming and faith-filled community where young people can encounter Jesus and grow in their faith.
· Develop a clear discipleship pathway helping young people move from first contact to confident faith and active participation in church life.
· Encourage young people to develop their gifts and serve within the wider church.
· Recruit, train, and pastor a team of youth leaders and volunteers, ensuring a strong culture and that support is given with regular training.
· Communicate effectively with young people and families.
· Work closely with the Kids Pastor to ensure transition from kids ministry into youth.
· Manage youth ministry resources and budget responsibly.
Teaching and Discipleship
- Teach the Bible in an engaging and accessible way to equip young people to read, understand and apply God’s word.
- Create a termly teaching and discipleship programme for youth gatherings.
- Facilitate small groups, mentoring, and opportunities for young people.
- Hold termly Youth Gatherings.
- Encourage young people to grow in prayer, worship, and the life of the Holy Spirit.
Mission and Outreach
- Pioneer creative ways to reach young people in schools and the community with the gospel.
- Develop and utilise social media effectively in reaching and communicating with young people.
- Create invitational spaces where young people can bring friends to explore faith.
- Encourage a culture of mission and evangelism among young people.
Person Specification
Essential
- A committed follower of Jesus with a passion for young people and discipleship.
- Able to communicate the Bible faithfully, clearly and engagingly.
- Passionate about seeing young people come to faith and grow as disciples.
- A gifted relationship builder who connects well with young people and families.
- Able to recruit, inspire, and lead teams of volunteers.
- Organised, reliable, and proactive.
- In agreement with the Vision and Leadership Agreement of LPC.
Desirable
- Experience in leading or growing a youth ministry in a church context.
- Training in Bible College, theology, ministry, or youth work.
- Familiarity with churches in the HTB / New Wine / evangelical charismatic networks.
- Experience using church systems such as Canva/Instagram/ChurchSuite.
Additional Information
- The role includes Sunday and some evening work as part of normal church life.
- An enhanced DBS check will be required.
- Agreement with LPC’s leadership agreement.
LPC
Leatherhead Parish Church (LPC) is in a season of exciting growth following a revitalisation in partnership with HTB in September 2022. We an Anglican church with a vision to love God, love people, and make disciples of Jesus.
Since revitalisation, LPC has grown to three Sunday morning services with 350+ attending weekly, over 160 in groups and with 135 guests on Alpha in 2025. Our Kids ministry is thriving with near 100 registered and around 50 each Sunday across two services in six groups, and a younger youth group at 11.30 service and a youth gathering currently on Sunday evening. We are passionate about raising a new generation of disciples, equipping families to follow Jesus, and planting new churches. We are Jesus centered, bible based and led by the holy spirit.
