Description of Job

St Margaret’s Rainham is a growing, outward-looking Anglican church in a parish of 26,000 people, with strong links to nine local schools and a clear vision for mission among children and families.

We are not looking for someone to run programmes. We are looking for someone who will build relationships, nurture faith, and help form new worshipping communities rooted in everyday life.

Over the next four years, we are seeking to:

• establish three new intergenerational worshipping communities

• engage at least 150 children and families in sustained discipleship

• deepen partnerships with schools and the wider community

This is a new role with real scope to shape and develop the ministry. You will work alongside an experienced and supportive team, with strong volunteer foundations already in place and a culture that values prayer, reflection and sustainable ministry.

We are looking for someone who:

• has a living Christian faith and is a communicant member of the Church of England

• has experience working with children and families in a church or community context

• is relational, patient and able to build trust over time

• can equip others and develop teams, not simply deliver activities

Rainham offers a strong sense of community, excellent transport links to London, and access to beautiful Kent countryside and coast.

A discernment pack is available via a link on the advert.

St Magraret's Church

Rainham, England, United Kingdom

St Margaret’s Church is a growing Church of England parish at the heart of Rainham in Kent, serving a community of around 26,000 people. We are a diverse Anglican church, rooted in prayer, scripture and sacrament, and open to creativity, mission and the work of the Holy Spirit.

Our vision is to see lives and communities transformed by the love of Jesus. We are committed to building a church where faith is lived out not only on Sundays, but in everyday life — in homes, schools and the wider community.

We have strong and developing relationships with local schools, families and community organisations, and a culture that values welcome, generosity and participation. Alongside our regular worship, we host a range of activities and events that connect with people beyond the church, including children and families work, seasonal services, and community gatherings.

We are in a season of growth and development, with a particular focus on children, families and intergenerational ministry. Our aim is to move from occasional contact to deep, sustained belonging, forming new worshipping communities and nurturing faith that lasts.

We are a collaborative and supportive team, committed to healthy and sustainable ministry. We prioritise prayer, reflective practice and ongoing development, and seek to create an environment where people can flourish in their calling.
