The Diocese of Guildford is seeking an experienced and inspiring Mission Enabler who is passionate about pioneering new ways to help shape and embed a mixed ecology of church life across the diocese.
Mixed ecology is a key priority within our diocesan vision of ‘Transforming Church, Transforming Lives’ and the Mission Enabler – Mixed Ecology will have the opportunity to help churches across the entire diocese to develop a vibrant mixed ecology were inherited church and new Christian communities flourish together.
This strategic and outward-facing role will support clergy, lay leaders and volunteers to establish New Worshipping Communities, Fresh Expressions and other diverse expressions of church life across the Diocese. A supporting focus of the role will be to enable and grow mixed ecology ministry among children, young people and families.
Key responsibilities of the Mission Enabler – Mixed Ecology will include:
- Inspire and equip churches to develop new expressions of church and mission
- Help establish learning communities that encourage experimentation, reflection and growth
- Support churches in discerning new opportunities for mission
- Champion a culture where mixed ecology becomes a natural and sustainable part of diocesan life.
- Encourage churches to become more diverse, more missional and more connected with their local communities
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience of leading or developing Fresh Expressions, New Worshipping Communities or other pioneering ministries
- Possesses a strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges of mixed ecology within parish life
- Has a deep passion for mission, discipleship and church growth
- Is a confident facilitator with the ability to lead workshops with both large and small groups
- Can build strong relationships across a wide range of church traditions and contexts
- Has experience of ministry with children, young people and families
- Brings creativity, strategic thinking and a collaborative approach
- Demonstrates a high level of integrity and discretion, and can handle confidential information with diplomacy and sensitivity
- Holds a full driving licence with the ability to travel around the diocese.
Above all, we are looking for someone with a passion for helping churches discern where God is already at work in their communities and confidence in encouraging others to join that mission.
