Worship Pastor

St Mary’s Longfleet is a large church of around 800 people (500 adults 300 under 18’s) rooted in the Word and the Spirit. Here at SML, we are on the edge something new where the Lord is inviting us into adventure: growing leaders and disciples and releasing new expressions of church. Central to this will be hosting His presence and prioritising worship of Him. We are looking to build an altar of praise and give our offering of worship to Jesus, who is simply worthy to be praised.

We are looking for a Worship Pastor with this heart: someone prophetic and radically committed to ministering to the presence of God, releasing the heart of the Father and the singular pursuit of God above all things. We are looking for someone who will model, disciple and release both the team and the wider church into the prioritisation of His presence.

Worship Leadership

• To carry and implement a vision for worship, in alignment with our overall vision, that reflects the core values of SML.

• To create a culture of corporate worship that prioritises God’s presence and creates space for Holy Spirit to move in power.

• To regularly lead worship on Sundays and key events, experienced in leading contemporary charismatic, Holy Spirit-inspired corporate worship, including leading people to minister to the presence of God and grow in intimacy in corporate worship settings.

• To lead or arrange musical and creative worship as required in different settings within the church.

Team Leadership

• To create and encourage a ‘vertical’ worship culture in the team, which is focused upon Jesus, and is concerned with responding to His leading.

• To create a culture which empowers worship leaders and the wider worship team implementing creative and musical worship at SML.

• To inspire, disciple, equip and lead the worship team at SML, building on current strengths and developing the team into all God has called it to be.

• To empower, pastor, and disciple the current team of worship leaders, and equip and release new worship leaders.

• To oversee the process of sung worship for the weekly Sunday Services in consultation (when appropriate) with other worship leaders and the Clergy.

• To disciple and lead the VP and Tech team leaders.

We are looking for a Worship Pastor who:

• walks in intimacy with Jesus and ministers to His presence in their own life.

• lives out their faith with integrity, as we believe that how a person lives outside of ‘worship leading’ is vitally important.

• is passionate about Jesus and fully committed to the vision and values of SML.

• is humble and self-aware, with strong emotional intelligence and excellent interpersonal skills.

• has a mature faith, is growing in the likeness of Jesus, and is open to the renewing work of the Holy Spirit.

• is committed to personal and corporate prayer and worship.

• is teachable, and happy to work at the direction of the leadership.

• has a sense of humour, is friendly and able to connect with the church community.

• can work well as part of a team.
