Kid's Festival Lead

Role Overview

The Kids' Ministry Lead provides the overall spiritual leadership, vision and operational oversight of Kids' Ministry at the New Wine Festival. The role is responsible for discerning and developing the direction of the ministry, leading and supporting the Kids' Ministry leadership team, and ensuring the safe, engaging and Spirit-filled delivery of ministry for children and their families.

Working alongside the Head of Events, Festival staff team and the Strategic Leadership Team, the Kids' Ministry Lead combines spiritual leadership with operational excellence. The role provides leadership across programme development, volunteer teams, safeguarding, risk management, health and safety, budgeting and Festival operations, equipping venue leaders to deliver outstanding ministry that reflects New Wine's vision, values and DNA.

New Wine has a passion to see children encounter Jesus, be filled with the Holy Spirit and become lifelong disciples who transform the world around them.

Throughout the year, New Wine seeks to encourage, equip and resource children's leaders through networks, training and events. The Summer Festival provides the opportunity to model healthy, Spirit-filled children's ministry that serves families and equips local churches.

At the heart of New Wine we want to see every church fully alive in the power of the Spirit. Our vision, "local churches changing nations," can only happen if we are intentional about both what we do and how we do it.

We believe we are called to ministry that is both rooted in the Word and empowered by the Spirit. For local churches to change nations, this DNA needs to be multiplied into every locality, denomination, context and generation.

To do this, we focus on three strategic priorities:

• Multiplying Churches

Every New Wine ministry contributes to these priorities through the Summer Festival, supporting and equipping local churches to grow and flourish.

 Key Responsibilities

1. Provide spiritual and strategic leadership for Kids' Ministry at the New Wine Festival - this includes:

• Prayerfully discerning and developing the vision and direction for Kids' Ministry at the Festival.

• Ensuring all children's ministry reflects New Wine's values of being rooted in the Word and empowered by the Spirit.

• Leading and supporting the Kids' Ministry leadership team.

• Building a healthy culture of encouragement, prayer, collaboration and discipleship across all Kids' venues.

2. Developing and encouraging future leaders within the ministry - this includes:

• Recruiting, appointing and supporting Team Leaders.

• Meeting regularly throughout the year to pray, plan and develop the Festival programme.

• Encouraging collaboration between venues to create a coherent ministry journey for children and families.

• Providing pastoral encouragement and support to Team Leaders throughout the planning process and during the Festival.

3. Lead and support the Kids' Ministry Leadership Team – this includes:

• Gems (1-2 years)

• Pebbles (3-4 years)

• Groundbreakers (Reception-Year 2)

• Rock Solid (Years 3-4)

• Boulder Gang (Years 5-6)

• Stepping Stones (0-4 Drop-in)

4. Oversee the planning and delivery of Kids' Ministry at the Festival - this includes:

• Working alongside the Head of Events, Festival staff team and Site Command Team to coordinate venue requirements, production, logistics and resources.

• Supporting Team Leaders to ensure venues are fully prepared and operational before opening.

• Maintaining oversight of attendance, staffing and venue operations across all Kids' venues.

• Maintaining oversight of the Kids' Ministry Festival budget, ensuring resources are used effectively and within agreed financial parameters.

• Helping ensure children and families have an outstanding Festival experience.

5. Lead and encourage volunteer teams - this includes:

• Encouraging, supporting and equipping volunteer teams.

• Promoting a culture where volunteers feel valued, cared for and well led.

• Supporting Team Leaders with volunteer recruitment where appropriate.

• Helping resolve pastoral, relational or operational issues that arise during the Festival.

• Recognising and celebrating the contribution of volunteers.

6. Promote safe and effective ministry - this includes:

• Working with Team Leaders to ensure all Kids' Ministry activities operate within New Wine safeguarding policies and procedures.

• Supporting Team Leaders in completing appropriate risk assessments and operational planning.

• Working closely with the Safeguarding Team, Head of Events and Director of Operations where required.

• Responding appropriately to safeguarding or welfare concerns.

• Helping ensure all venues operate safely and effectively throughout the Festival.

• Following all New Wine safer recruitment and safeguarding procedures when planning, delivering or participating in any New Wine event.

7. Contribute to the wider New Wine vision - this includes:

• Working collaboratively with other Festival Ministry Leads.

• Participating in Festival planning meetings as required.

• Supporting the wider aims and culture of the Festival.

• Helping shape the future development of Kids' Ministry within New Wine.

• Representing Kids' Ministry within wider Festival leadership discussions where appropriate.

Role Particulars

1. Reporting and Support

• The Kids' Ministry Lead is supported operationally by the Head of Events, who provides oversight of Festival planning, delivery, resources and operational matters. They will also work closely with the Volunteer Management Lead, who supports the volunteer journey from recruitment through to the Festival.

• Alongside this, the Kids' Ministry Lead will work with members of New Wine's Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure that the vision, values and spiritual direction of Kids' Ministry remain aligned with New Wine's wider mission and strategic priorities. The specific SLT member providing this support may vary over time.

• This arrangement reflects the dual nature of the role, combining operational excellence with spiritual leadership and discernment.

2. Time Commitment

• This is a voluntary ministry appointment. The role typically requires an average commitment of approximately half a day per week throughout the year, increasing during the months leading up to the Festival, together with attendance at key planning meetings and throughout the Festival.

3. Length of Appointment

• This appointment is for an initial period of three years and may be reviewed or renewed by mutual agreement.

4. Expenses

• Reasonable agreed expenses incurred whilst undertaking this role will be reimbursed in accordance with New Wine's Expenses Policy.
