APPLICATION
Once you’ve prayerfully discerned that becoming a Hub Church is the right step, Phase 2 is about formalising your commitment and laying strong foundations.
You’ll meet with the DY Ministry Lead, submit your application and safeguarding documents, and review everything together before signing the Service Level Agreement (SLA). You’ll also begin preparing to recruit your Hub Leader and engage potential students early to build momentum.
By the end of this phase, you should have:
- Submitted your application and safeguarding documentation
- Finalised and signed your Service Level Agreement (SLA)
- Posted your Hub Leader role and begun recruitment
As soon as you’ve made the decision to apply to become a Hub Church, we encourage you to begin conversations with potential Placement Churches and students.
Involving them early in the journey helps build momentum and excitement—and gives them a sense of ownership in what’s being established. It’s a great way to begin forming the foundation of your first cohort for the year ahead.
How to formally apply to become a Hub Church:
- Acts as a local base for multiple DY placements
- Provides oversight, training delivery, and pastoral support to students and Placement Churches
- Partners with New Wine in leadership development
- Completed Hub Application Form
- Safeguarding documentation
- Reference from another local senior leader / denominational contact
- Role description for your proposed Hub Leader
- Website copy, so that we can get your details on the New Wine website (see template attache)
- The final step in this phase is receiving formal approval from New Wine on your application.
- We aim to provide clear feedback before you submit, so you’ll have a good indication of whether your application is likely to be successful. Barring any unforeseen issues, we look forward to welcoming you on board. By this stage, any potential challenges will usually have been resolved.
- Once approved, the next priority is recruiting your Hub Leader. We expect the job advert to be published before the end of the February prior to the September when the DY students will start their year, though we recognise that finding the right person can take time.
- Hub Churches must meet safer recruitment standards and have a named Safeguarding Lead.
- Template policies available if needed.
- This outlines roles, responsibilities, and mutual commitments. It is not a legally binding document, nor intends to create a contract, but rather codifies our shared understanding of what it means to be a Hub Church.
